Musical Cats
December 2022 - January 2023
This was a particularly fun project that was requested by a co-worker of mine. She wanted to get her friend a special gift for her birthday with personalized artwork of her cats.
She sent me pictures of her friend's cats and asked for them to be drawn in a musical / dance style - one she wanted as a ballerina, another she wanted to be a hip hop breakdancing cat and the last one she wanted to be a jazz cat "maybe playing a saxophone."
I sent the sketch to her to make sure I had the right idea before transferring it to Adobe Photoshop for coloring.
There were a lot of details and the entire process took time but I was eager to keep working on it and was excited with how the final result turned out:
My co-worker left a wonderful review along with this picture of the artwork printed on a pillow (printed by Printful).
Part of the fun in the design process is seeing what was once a sketch come to life on a tangible printed product like this.
Seeing the final result is like the equivalent of opening presents on Christmas morning! At least, that's how it is for me. The excitement never seems to wear off.

A Different Kind of Unicorn
September 2022
Design prompt came from my aunt who wanted a more sarcastic/cynical-looking unicorn with the quote:
“It’s all Rainbows & Unicorns around here…”
“It’s all Rainbows & Unicorns around here…”

Digital Doggos
October 2022 - September 2022
These design prompts were perfect to continue my digital art learning in both Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
Using a specific photo provided by the client, this digital drawing was made using Adobe Illustrator for the line art and then colored using Adobe Photoshop.
The line art is still somewhat stylized but I tried a different method than usual for the shading in attempt to produce a more realistic look.
It also was a chance for me to test out how coloring differs in Photoshop versus Illustrator.
I completed this drawing in October 2022 before moving on to the next part of this custom request.

The second part of the request was completed in September 2022. I once again used specific photos provided to me to create digital headshots of four separate dogs (all were the Brittany dog breed). This time I primarily used Adobe Illustrator for the process and used a bit of a more stylized approach.

Digital School Mascot Design
August 2022
This was around the time I was beginning to explore digital art. I used this design challenge to begin learning how to use Adobe Illustrator. The prompt was to design another school mascot design - this time a baby black panther with the letters "SRS."

School Mascot T-Shirt Design
July 2022
The request was to create a t-shirt design with their school mascot, a raccoon named Wes, with the phrase "Wes is the Best" using their school colors of blue and yellow.
This was actually my first time attempting to draw a raccoon but it was a lot of fun to come up with this design.
Here is the initial sketch of the idea. I thought adding sunglasses to Wes was a fun detail that they would enjoy.
From the sketch, I used alcohol-based markers to color once I completed the line art. I removed the background and cleaned up the image in Adobe Photoshop.
