One of my many interests is history and aircraft. Airshows are a unique opportunity to see history come alive while also getting the chance to listen to the stories and lessons from veterans and reenactors.
Naturally, when attending airshows, I can't resist the chance to enjoy my hobby of photography while taking in all the sights and sounds.

WWII Airborne Demonstration
These photos were taken (using my Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra phone) at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum in Reading, PA during its WWII Weekend airshow in 2023.
One of my favorite events to see at the airshow is the paratrooper demonstration.  This year's was performed utilizing a C-47 named "Placid Lassie" and she certainly put on quite the show - as did all involved!

The Tunison Foundation's C-47, Placid Lassie, is a real war veteran that saw action during D-day and operations such as Market Garden as well as others.  Find out more about her story at tunisonfoundation.org.

Watkins Glen SpeedTour
In September of 2023, I joined my brother on a trip to Watkins Glen for the Watkins Glen SpeedTour.  This event would bring in race cars across multiple eras for a weekend of racing.
I'm not exactly a car enthusiast, but I had been interested in attending this event for the historical aspect.  Not only would there be cars from different periods in history - but the track, and the town itself, also had a rich history.
This was a track that racing legends like Niki Lauda and James Hunt had set foot on.  For one weekend, I was able to explore this amazing location for myself and see the evolution of the cars themselves take place before my eyes with each race.  I could walk through the various teams' setups and get an up-close look at the cars throughout the event.
Even as someone who doesn't have a huge amount of interest in cars and racing, I found the event incredibly enjoyable.  Here are just some of the photos I took with my Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra phone during that time:

Trying Out my New Camera on Vacation
My vacation to Mexico in the summer of 2024 was the testing ground for my new Canon EOS Rebel SL3 camera.  The weather wasn't great at the start of our time there but it did create a unique opportunity to get photos of the waves crashing behind the lighthouses that mark the entrance to the marina.
We had to walk on the rocks to get into prime position for photos - and we got rained on - but it felt like I got the full "National Geographic" experience as I like to call it!
Here are some of my favorites shots.  I played around in the editing trying out different settings and it was a lot of fun to see the results.
